Susan Caponi, MBA, BSN, RN, CPHQ, CPXP

VP IPRO ESRD Program, KHARES Project Director

Background

Susan Caponi, MBA, RN, CPHQ, CPXP, is Vice President of IPRO’s End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) Program and Project Director for KHARES, the Kidney Health and Resources Education Support program. She is a registered nurse and healthcare executive with more than 35 years of experience in healthcare and has led ESRD Network programs for the past 20 years.

In her role at IPRO, Sue provides leadership and oversight for IPRO’s CMS ESRD Network programs and leads KHARES, a national CMS initiative supporting ESRD Networks and the kidney community through education, technical assistance, emergency preparedness and response, data and analytics, partnerships, and patient-centered resources.

Throughout her career, Sue has led national and regional initiatives focused on improving the quality, safety, and coordination of care for people with kidney disease. Her experience includes leadership of the ESRD National Coordinating Center and the Kidney Community Emergency Response program, where she supported national emergency preparedness and response efforts to help maintain continuity of dialysis care during disasters and other emergencies.

Sue holds an MBA and is a registered nurse. She is also a Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality and a Certified Patient Experience Professional, reflecting her longstanding commitment to quality improvement, patient experience, and healthcare leadership.
Sue is actively involved in national kidney community leadership and collaboration, working with healthcare organizations, clinicians, patients, federal partners, and other stakeholders to advance quality and improve outcomes for people living with kidney disease.
